The kettlebell as we know it today is nothing like it was in the olden days, in fact, the kettlebell was not invented for exercise, but rather as a weight for weighing crops, grains plus other goods. It was called a Pood. Over the many years the Kettlebell has evolved drastically and is now only used as an exercise tool. Kettlebells were developed in Russia as far back as the 1700s. In the 19th & 20th century Circus performers and Strongmen as well as the Soviet army used them as part of their physical training to build muscle and stamina, to develop fitness prowess and power.
